Using the 2nd IP range with a Vigor 2800 was created by mountainman
Hi
I have a Vigor 2800. It's 1st IP range is 192.168.6.x, I have connected a Wireless Access Point (Netgear WG602) and have set it on the 2nd IP range of 192.168.0.x
I want to keep the 1st range for the domain computers.
I want the 2nd Range to be for "visitors" and their laptops, phones etc.

The SBS2008 server acts as the DHCP server for the domain PCs. I want the Vigor to hand out the 2nd IP range to the visitors laptops and other wireless devices.

I cant get the Vigor to do anything other than hand out the 1st IP range. Admittedley this works fine and the visitors do get internet access, but they are on the same IP range as the domain. Really do need to keep the visitors away from the domain we are a substance abuse charity and our visitors are clients.....

Any suggestions

Thanks

Would the LAN >> VLAN function help you in this case?
Put the Wireless Access Point on, say, Port 4 tick the box VLAN1/P4 and leave the rest of your devices to VLAN0/P1-3?

This may give you the isolation you need. The WG602 could also handle the DHCP side of things for the "visitors" and their laptops, phones etc.

Hi
Thanks for your help.
I have done what you suggested and the DHCP works, i now have visitors laptop assigned a 192.168.0.x address.
However, what is happening is the Gateway is now the IP address of my external IP, so 83.217.160.x
So no Internet access.

Any suggestions.

Hi again
the 83.217.168.18 gateway that has been assigned is the GW IP address, not my static IP address.

thanks

The 2800 2nd DCHP bit it for advanced routing of your external IP's.
Disable IP routing for 2nd subnet DHCP section, should put things right... I think!

Hi
tried every combination of settings. The router will assign 192.168.0.10, and a gateway of 192.168.0.1 to the visitors but they dont get internet access
There are only a few options on the LAN screen.
I have tried enable and disable server, not realy sure what the Relay Agent does, if I disable the IP routing usage then the Start IP address reverts back to the main range
Not played with the DHCP Server IP Adress fo relay agent. Think that is there is a second DHCP server
