Vigor DHCP & DNS capability was created by john_kattenhorn
Hi,
I'm thinking of purchasing a Vigor ADSL router as i've had pretty good experiences with them before. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to configure the DHCP server if give out a custom DNS address (as well as) it's own.
I have a Win 2008 Domain Controller sitting at home which I use occasionally for some dev project but the machine isn't always on. I'd like the Vigor to server out IP addresses 24/7 but put the address of the server second in the list of DNS server it hands out to keep machines connected to the domain happy. Oh for the price of electricity nowadays - I used to leave it all switched on 247
Thanks for any help.

It can do that, from the telnet interface you can set that by entering
sys domainname wan1 <domainname>
It'll then give out that through dhcp
sys domainname wan1 <domainname>
It'll then give out that through dhcp

John,
Not sure if what voodle suggests actually answers your question.
the sys domainname will set the DNS suffix of your clients.
These will set the DNS servers handed out to DHCP clients:
srv dhcp dns1 <DC IP Address>
srv dhcp dns2 <Router IP Address>
Regards
Carl
