Hi,
Good choice.
Since Vigor2820 and Vigor2830 use different hardware, you can´t use the same .cfg files between them.

rj

I thought so.
I was afraid of that. Dammit.
If it were me, I'd have made it XML or something else structured so that it would be flexible.
Right-o. I need to download the manual now, I guess, unless it's on the disk... Ah. It says: "Documentation". Time to dig in and read...

I have exactly the same router and the same problem. It bricked after the update which was apparently succesful, and it won't go into upgrade mode, it is just dead and you can't even get any LAN lights on.
Seems this router has some major problems to me, first it bricks and then you can't recover it.
I would expect an issue like this to be fixed out of warranty since it is caused by the new firmware.

It's not usual to "brick" like that when attemping to upgrade firmware.
Even if that happens, Vigor Router should ALWAYS be able to enter in Upgrade Mode (following EXACTLY the previous process) , in order to force a firmware upgrade.
I suggest to send it to RMA.

rj

Had time to try this- interestingly, it *does* respond to the ping, and if you restart in this mode, the LAN connection light flashes. However, it then goes to the familiar "hollow square" LED display and ignores any future connection attempts.

Ok,
Can you leave a MS-DOS command prompt with a "ping 192.168.1.1 -t" while you do this process ? (don´t forget to use a fixed IP on your PC (Ex: 192.168.1.10)).
Check if you get a ping reply while that 1st column lights.
About the audible click, it´s normal on Vigor VoIP models, since it´s the PSTN relay internal switch initializing.

Hmm. I suspect they'd just say: it's over three years old, tough.
