now if only I could change "should" to "does" I'd be a happy(ish) man.
Does anyone else have any ideas?

well I got so frustrated with it, I decided to change the ip address of the HH to 192.168.1.65 which was a bit nearer to where the rest of my ip addresses were. But then the HH could be accessed by anything so I did a hard reset and much to my suprise it came up using 192.168.1.65 as the ip address with 192.168.1.254 as the gateway address.
I've tried sending specific services through wan2 and it appears to be working
