Managed Internet Connections was created by dt2
Hello friends

Is there anything special about connecting a Draytek into a building where managed services are provided ? We will receive an ethernet with fixed IP 192.168.X.1 to 254. Do I just treat it as a WAN fixed IP ?

Thanks.

Yes, the facilities management type people will likely give you and Class C WAN IP address such as the 192.168. you mention

Just ensure you fun a different range on your LAN - so if they give you 192.168.2.123 then don't run a 192.168.2.x range yourself.

The bigger boys of these Managed Services Providers could well have a decent connection with a (range) block of say 64 WAN IP's and they might allocate one to you.

So you could end up with a more conventional looking WAN IP like 188.220.55.67

I have found the support is often exceptional in these places, so I am sure they'll give you all the Fixed IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS server IP's you need.

Regardless of the IP numbering scheme use it as the WAN ip details and it'll all work fine.

Best regards, Neal
