Setup 2850 As A Bridge was created by simonm23
Hi,
I am currently looking at replacing an x21 leased line with Zen ADSL with a view to upgrading to FTTC when it is available in my area.
Currently my ISP supplies a managed Cisco 2800 which is plugged into our Watchguard x750e firewall. The firewall is configured to provide a NAT to our LAN and to service a DMZ containing a variety of public web and FTP servers. I really want to keep the x750e and just place a new router in front of it.
Is it possible to configure the 2850 to perform the PPPoA authentication with Zen and then pass our useable /29 IP block to the firewall. If so how. Zen, surprisingly, are not being that helpful. I have also got access to a Vigor 2820 if that woud be a better option for now. Would a Vigor 120 be a better bet?? The x750e appears to offer a PPPoE client but that is only available if I come out of drop-in mode which would mean re-configuring the x750e which I am trying to avoid. Phew.

the 2820 is been in use bridged in this post
http://www.forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17618
The 2820 has got option for bridge mode at pppoa section in the wan setting (internet access) but the 2850 i don't see any at wan settings (only for mpoa or static/dynamic ip)so i would like to know as well for future use (only the 2850 to perform as pure modem and an other router do the rest)
The 120 may be better because is a pure just modem but i would not get it if i had them 2 (2820 & 2850)all ready

Thanks for the response.
I'm glad it it isnt just me that cant find a bridge mode in the 2850.
I'll look at the 2820 - you mean the PPPoE passthrough option I assume.
BT have just put back our install date (again) so I've got a little time.
Anyone else got any input?
