2955 Firmware - Crashes CSM was created by orderwise
We're experiencing random crashes and restarts with our 2955. This has been happening for quite some time now. UK support didn't really have any idea what's causing it, and when I do sys ver dbg I get:
> sys ver dbg
Router Model: Vigor2955 Version: v3.3.1 English
Profile version: 3.0.0 Status: 1 (0x5821ff24)
Router IP: 10.1.1.1 Netmask: 255.255.0.0
Firmware Build Date/Time: Wed Apr 11 18:16:2.56 2012
Revision: 30554 2950FW
!!!Can't get exception debug info!!!
get from address : 0x03f00000
On the US website, there is a firmware update (3.3.1.2) which lists:
Fixed: The router may crash when WCF is enabled.
This firmware is not listed on the UK site.
To test whether it's this that's causing it, I've disabled the WCF and the router seems stable again, with an uptime currently over 2 days. We were lucky to get 8 hours before.
What is the reason for the disparity between the UK and US websites?
I assume that the firmware is safe to install on a UK model?

The UK pages are very slow ( sometimes years ) to be updated.
Absolutely, in this case, because the connectivity is Ethernet, and not ADSL, so I would go ahead with the.rst and configure from scratch.

Neal

Not this particular problem but I ran into another with 3.3.1 and upgrading to 3.3.2 fixed it.
The problem was to do with load balance policies only working for a short period, a reboot of the router would fix them.
There was no fix listed for this in 3.3.2 but I thought I'd give it a whirl before reverting back to 3.3.0
