Firewall Effectiveness on Vigor2850Vn was created by danboy1
Hi
Does anybody connect their pc's or laptops direclty (wirelessly) to the vigor for internet access. I was wondering how effective the firewall security was on the Vigor 2850Vn if a PC with its own antivirus and firewall was to connect to the internet through the vigor without any server between them (with full strict firewall security and DOS defence enabled on the Vigor), would this be considered a secure configuration or would the PC be constantly open to attack. Is there any configuration on the 2850Vn which would enable such a scenario or am I reaching too far.
Regards
D.

It really depends how "safe" you want to be but yes you should be fine using the 2850 as your gateway, these device's are designed for Business as a home user you'll be fine.
Incomming connections are blocked y default unless you start opening ports or using the port forward.
You can also purchase the the WCF licence if you are worried about browsing and then block by category etc
