Vigor 120 v2 Packet Loss was created by caber
Hello,
I recently acquired a Vigor 120 V2 modem but after setting it all up I started noticing some issues. The web gui was very unresponsive at times and sometimes failed to load at all. I then tried pinging the modem and saw that i was getting anywhere from 5-15% packet loss of 200 pings sent. I checked the firmware and it was on the latest 3.2.6 so I tried downgrading to 3.2.4 with a full factory reset but the problem persists. I've tested it on multiple computers directly connecting using different ethernet cables and the problem remains the same. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I can do to try and fix this? thanks in advance.

Check firewall at pc
Check at 120 v2 if is ticked or not the bridged mode or may better set manual your isp settings
If you dont use any router and just have the pc as router you may need follow this guide

I've tried disabling the firewall and it made no difference. I've configured the Vigor 120 and had it connected to the internet an but once I noticed all the dropped packets I swapped back to an older modem and everything is fine again. Since then I've been testing the connection to the Vigor 120 by directly connecting it to a computer with just an ethernet cable leaving the RJ11 internet cable unplugged. When pinging the Vigor 120 directly it will randomly time out 5-15% of the time, I have never experienced this with any other modem or router. I'm assuming it has somehow developed a hardware fault or something? as everything I've tried makes no difference.

Yea in this case it may be the modem but...
Can you master reset the current firmware and update to 3.2.6 with RST file using the router tools firmware upgrade utility if will make any difference?

Sounds like your modem or Internet connection from you Internet provider to your modem is malfunctioning.
Some ideas:
To prove this, disconnect the network cable from your modem, and connect using a network cable from your modem to a computer's wired LAN port. Temporarily turn off Wi-Fi in the computer, if Wi-Fi is on. Reboot your modem, then computer.
Runhttp://speedtest.phonepower.com/ . After the test click on the Advanced tab and post.
Next click on the Graph Tab. Go down to the Left lower side where you will see the word Plot:
Look at all four plots.
Pay attention to the Download Speed and Upload speed plots. Look at the red graph lines.
If you have a very few narrow red spikes going up to about 3/4 of the way to the top of the graph, they are not good, but probably won't cause a problem.
If you have red spikes that are wide and go to the top of the graph and farther if there was room, there is your problem.
Either the modem or Internet provider's signal isn't good.
If you see this especially on the Upload side, it most likely the spikes being generated from the modem.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried reflashing it with the upgrade utility but that has made no difference either, it's still dropping a lot of packets when being pinged. I think I'll just purchase a replacement as this one seems to be beyond repair. Thanks again.
