How do I allow an IP range with web content filtering? was created by srooks
Hi,
I have web content filtering enabled (Commtouch) with uncatagorised sites blocked. What I've noticed is that this blocks the BBC iPlayer on an LG Smart TV, which appears to directly access sites, such as:
bbc-vip032.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk [212.58.246.118]
I've noticed other IP addresses in teh 212.58.x.x range being accessed too.
Is it possible to setup a rule to allow this range of addresses to be allowed, even if they're going to be blocked by the WCF? The filter needs to work directly on the IP address (not DNS name) as in the syslog I can see that the address is being accessed directly and not via DNS lookup.
thanks,
S

Set up the IP object/group and then in the Filter Set up create the rule for the group and then a the bottom of the rule it asks for what Web Filter rule you want to apply to it.

To follow up on this, I have it working now. This is what I did:
Created a new Filter (#3) (thx Sicon) which is the next Filter Set from Default Data Filter (set #2), here I added a rule to allow the IP address range to pass if matched. I then created another Filter set (#4) and added a rule with no ip limitation, passes unless a further match and critically add the Web Filter rule.
I probably could have collapsed both rules into the same Filter set.
