Hi all
Ive inherited a 2820n and ive backed up the config. If i get a newer model can I simply upload the config file

No really even if may works
Even with same model updating to other firmware (higher or lower) is not recommended due to cost issues if new features added or the config carries previous modem or firmware bugs

So it may works ... but not recommended by Draytek it self
