2820n upgrade to 2830n - configuration file won't restore was created by andyjt
Hi,
I am replacing a 2820n with a new 2830n but the .cfg configuration file saved from the 2820 will not restore on the 2830.
I thought they were supposed to be a direct replacement ?
Initially I get "Warning: Config filename mismatch, restore anymore ?", press OK then a blank screen with the word "Fail! The setting uploaded fail."
Any advise ?
Thanks,
Andy

As far i know even with same models is not advised to use any previous config files after upgrading (or downgrading ) firmwares and always is best to use the *rst files with each new firmware
This is because previous config may have bugs from previous firmwares and if updating firmware may cost issues (perhaps with new features or new settings) if previous config files restored
Only between same firmware (example if you want to change a modem code or a reset due to a fault) is ok to use config files ... i would advise
So my guess is even if manage to load a config file from an other model it will be a totally mess
