2820n - Wan2 - Cable speed was created by jam_man
Hi all,
I have an 'up to' 120mb connection with Virgin Media and currently getting 90mb download (tested by speedtest.net and also newsgroup downloads).
I was getting 90mb when I was on 100mb and put the 10 mb difference down to just not being able to get the maximum, yet when Ive been upgraded the speed hasnt increased at all.
Now I also have a 2820VN router but when Ive tried using that before I only managed to get 60mb maximum (all QoS etc is disabled on both).
My question therefore is, could there be anything on either router other than Qos or Bandwidth management restricting me? I assume the wan2 port can support over 100mbps?
I will at some point test the connection by removing the draytek completely and connect straight to the VM modem, but would rather keep the draytek if possible.
tia.

Hi
All the 2820 models its firewall is up to 50MB(official by draytek), so if you are going up to 90mb with the 2820 is great, will not go more far
Here i find a thread with infinity that some users will not go far as well with the 2820, but are few others similar threads around the forum for the same model

Thanks for your reply.
Looks like I may be switching to another router then.

If you go for draytek again the 2130n is a good alternative because it can go up to 500-800mb, so when VM in future give more speeds should not have any problem
