V3300 cpu 100% was created by mkiller
Hi.
I've been having some issues recently with a V3300. There are 2 WAN connections load balanced with 1 having a VPN permanently connected to another office (over ADSL with a Vigor 120). Recently the VPN has occasionally been dropping out, no connections between the 2 offices, no voip etc, but the web config says the VPN is up. A reboot of the vigor solves the problem, rebooting the other end doesn't help.
I've noticed that the CPU of the router is stuck at 100% permanently, whether I use the web interface or telnet. Could this be the issue? If so, why is it at 100%? The data flow monitor doesn't show much usage.
I'm stuck for ideas on what this may be. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Mike
Are you using the latest firmware?
I had the same problem a while ago, with the CPU at 100%. Upgrading the firware fixed it.

Hi Mike,
We have noticed this issue on a number of our 3300s in the past.
First thing to note is that 3300s tend to run at 100% CPU usage for quite a while after reboot - could be up to 10 minutes.
Second thing to check is whether there are any conflicting NAT or IP addresses on both the router as well as the underlying network.
Finally, check the number of NAT rules (especially port forwarding). We have found that a large number of NAT rules can cause the router to run at 100% CPU usage indefinately.
Hope this helps,
Riaan
