Vigor 2830 internet drop outs was created by garywilliams
Hi All,
I'm having some issues with my Vigor 2830. Every now and then it'll just stop talking to the internet. The weird thing is that existing connections keep working just fine. Anything new will fail.
So for example, if I have a webpage up I can refresh it just fine and click on links related to that site but if I then go to google I get a 'server cannot be found error' a PING to 8.8.8.8 works but an NSLOOKUP to the same IP doesn't.
It's almost like the NAT table is exhausted and can't create new connections. Any suggestions or pointers on this?
Details of the router:
Model Name : Vigor2830n
Firmware Version : 3.6.4_sb_232201
Build Date/Time : Mar 18 2013 12:47:45
Cheers.
Gary.

Try the 211801 modem code on the UK download page, especially if your ADSL sync speed is below 4mbps.
Beyond that, check the syslog output when it happens to see if it's a line fault (loss of signal) or something else.

you can try, lan general setup, details page and set manually dns servers
if not helps you bear in mind this firmware must have somewhere a conflict because are few complains about ... other users mentioned nslookup breaks as well, so is not just you
Maybe if you roll back 3.6.3 or 3.6.2 until draytek sort it out is better and my guess is ... if you report it to support, perhaps they will look to it faster if are many users keep reporting about 3.6.4 (i have report it too, issue with wan 2)

Cheers,
I've tried the manual DNS route and that failed too.
The syslog is interesting, throughout the log I get this:
Jul 6 13:21:13 10.253.1.254 Jul 6 13:21:11 Vigor: DSL: DSL Rebooting...
The connection is PPOE so I have no idea why I get DSL rebooting messages.
Around the time of the DNS dropouts I get this:
DSL: DSL Rebooting...IPLM

that means your ADSL connection is dropping
Try the different modem code and if that doesn't help, check whether the microfilters on the phone line are all okay

More weirdness to add to the mix.
This evening DNS dropped out again. Digging through the logs showed nothing except a DoS attack just before hand and the router was fine.
Out of curiosity I disabled 'Enable DoS protection' and everything came back to life so I think for now I'll be leaving DoS protection DISABLED.
