I have an old 2800 series and a 2830 series. They are running with the 2830 as the load balancer, and the 2800 plugged into the 2830's WAN2 port. I've put the model and firmware versions of the HW at the bottom, as well as other setup info.

The problem is that I am able to load-share between WAN1 and WAN2 for up to about 24 hours (sometimes shorter) - I work from home (in the UK countryside, hence the need for a dual setup), and am constantly using the net.

After about 24 hours, I have to go into the admin page on the 2830, WAN -> General Setup -> WAN2, and untick the 'load balance' option, click OK, and retick the 'load balance' option.

Does anyone experience similar? I've tried searching Google, and also this forum, but haven't found any words of wisdom yet.

Cheers,

Richie Jarvis

is more easy my suggestion below because it will not reboot the modem and is better than wan>general set you are trying

Go at wan>load balance policy (leave at wan>general set up -load balance- both clicked wan 1 & 2)
From the wan>load balance if you tick the wan 1 all traffic will go to wan 1 (no reboot)
If you tick wan 2 all traffic will go to wan 2 with out rebooting

If you tick both should work over 24 hrs (unlimited) but set manually and lan>general set>details page ... the dns servers in there as well ... if my suggestions helps you

Note if you have latest betas Load balance will appear alone at left column

Thanks for the advice - I've left my existing setup as-is (I believe thats what you meant by 'leave at wan>general set up -load balance- both clicked wan 1 & 2'), and set WAN -> Load Balance Policy with both WAN1 and WAN2 ticked.

I have the DNS server IP Addresses in LAN -> General Setup set as follows already:
Primary IP Address: 192.168.40.1 (WAN1 Router)
Secondary IP Address: 192.168.20.1 (WAN2 Router)

I presume this will cause DNS requests to go direct to the Router, and the router will handle the DNS traffic to its WAN DNS server, right?

Cheers,

Richie

The first yes correct at wan general set up ... leave them permanent ticked

Sorry ... what i mean is @ Lan>general set up>details page>set the google's ones you are using
Sorry i typed wan>general set up ... but is Lan>general set up>Lan 1 >>details page> & add the dns
