2850 with VDSL connection drops was created by keithbucknall
All,

Over the last 2 months my 2850 which I am using for my 80/20 as the modem and router (so I have removed the BT ECI modem) keeps dropping WAN1 and I have to power cycle the router every 2 days or so - how can I troubleshoot this, my firmware is currently - Current Firmware Version: 3.6.4_2471201

I have now put the ECI back in and using WAN2 under the PPPoE settings but keep getting slightly smaller speeds on this compared to the built in modem - can you please help.

regards

Keith

1-
when using it at wan as stand alone modem (wan 1) change MTU from 1442 (default) to 1492 ... it is important for VDSL
When use wan 1 turn off wan 2 completely ... wan>general set up>wan 2>enable: NO
After reboot (disabling wan 2) if you see little higher speed, leave it running 2-3 days without interrupt the connection for the profile speed to go little upper and see if will keep drops the connection

2-
same for using wan 2 (lan 4) turn off wan 1 and change MTU 1492

These settings should help little more but if still problems:

change it to 1492 this is important ... set mode Always on (wan>internet access> WAN Connection Detection) also there set it at PPPoE the protocol ... double check wan 2 is not enable ... untick at Bandwidth Management >> Quality of Service the priority for voip ... vdsl setup, make sure all profiles are ticked and bit swap is on (enable) ... and vlan id tag 101 at wan 1 > general set up> VLAN Tag insertion> tag value
