Plusnet fibre no work with 2860 series?? was created by astosales
Asked Plusnet support if we could use e.g. a Draytek router if we upgraded to Fibre service (unlimited data, Static IP) and got the answer below:
"I can confirm that an ADSL2+ router will not work with a fibre service as a fibre compatible router will need to be used as the signal transmitted down the line is of a different standard."
... but reading the 2860n spec here, it looks like we could either a) connect fibre service directly to ADSL/VDSL port - I assume the fibre modem is built in?, or b) connect the BT installed fibre modem by ethernet cable to the 2860n's WAN ethernet port.
(I assume even and ADSL2+ router would work if we went the b) route and connected the BT fibre modem by ethernet cable to e.g. a WAN port on a 2830?)
Am I correct or have Plusnet got it right?
Thanks

Perhaps plusnet has confuse the draytek thinking is an adsl 2+ modem only
The 3860 is an adsl/vdsl all in one so:
a) will work with adsl & vdsl line ... just connect it direct to the master socket and set the isp parameters ... setting the correct parameters for adsl will work with adsl ... setting the parameters with vdsl will work with vdsl
b) in the case speeds are bad or any other reason can use it with adsl/vdsl modem in combination with the 2860 only routing
Have find a post from plusnet forum where a user stating it works with their fibre
(link censored so add http://) community.plus.net/forum/index.php?topic=118375.0

I'm using a 2860 with PlusNet Fibre which is BT Infinity 2.
Router set to PPPoE with Tag value of 101, the router drops connection after about a minute. Router Firmware is 3.7.3.1_RC3a.
Any ideas why it won't keep a connection?
The router work fine using wan port to set with PPPoE connected to the BT supplied router.
Thanks
