Vigor 2960 Tagged VLAN Issues was created by jellyfish2013
Hi.

I have a Vigor 2960 which I am trying to configure for use.

I want to configure 1 LAN and a VLAN so I can route the 2 WAN ports to the LAN and the VLAN.

My main LAN (10 - default) has an ip of 160.x.x.x
I want to setup a VLAN of 160.1.x.x with a mask of 255.255.0.0
(I know that these are NOT the correct private IP's - long story!)

I have configured a VLAN with an ID of 11 and then tagged the 2nd Ethernet port to be the only port that has access to this VLAN. I am then connecting an HP 1810G-24 switch to the Draytek and have setup the tagging in there so that all the ports are part of the VLAN 11.

I can't ping the Draytek from any PC connected to the HP switch but I can ping the 160.1.0.87 address (draytek LAN port test address) if I am connected to port 1 of the switch, which I believe if port one on the switch isn't part of the VLAN I shouldn't be able to do?

I am running the 1.0.7 firmware and would be appreciative if anyone can shed light on this for me.

Cheers,

JellyFish2013

what is the port setting on the HP Switch that has PC connected to it?
This should be untagged in VLAN 11 with only the port that links to the 2960 tagged.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply. All of the ports on the HP are tagged to work with VLAN 11 - that's how I have configured switches to work in the past. May have made a cockup here but I'll try it tomorrow with just the port connected to the Draytek tagged and I'll let you know.

here is a simple set up with 3 VLANs using an HP 2525

Forget about port 24 as that linking to another switch with the same VLANs on it .
The untageed ports are where I have PCs plugged in and WAPS that done have VLAN functions they basically see the untagged ports as a logical switch

Right.

I have tried everything I can think of, so I'm posting my setup from the 2960 and the HP as I can't get this to work. I want to be able to ping the 2960 from any port on the HP, the 2960 is connected via port 1 on the HP (Green here - I'm connected to port 3 in the diags).

So 2960 LAN setup..

And VLAN Setup...

And finally HP Setup...

I can untag all of the ports (except the one that the draytek is connected to) but then I loose config connectivity. But surely when one port is tagged and the others untagged / excluded, the switch just acts as an extension of the VLAN its hooked to? Right?

Any further ideas most welcome.

You tagged your self out of the network.
Looking at the 2960 you have no default VLAN so you tagged out if it.

If port one is connected to the 2960 then tag that in the vlans but untag port 2 in vlan10 and port 3 in vlan11

If you plug a PC into port 2 you will get vlan10 and vlan11 in port 3
