2170n Dropping connection - fimware for poor line quality was created by blun
Hi,
I've just purchased a 2710n from ebay - using it on my ADSL2+ line with Plusnet. It looks like the whole router may be restarting, every 2/3 hours. I've heard that there is firmware available for poor / long lines. Can anyone advise how to obtain this? (Currently using the latest 3.6.5 standard firmware)
I notice here:
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2710/Firmware/v3.6.5/Vigor2710_v3.6.5_annexA/
there's lots of different zip files but there's no indication which is which.
Current stats:
ADSL Status: ADSL2+(G.992.5)
Mode State SHOWTIME
Up Speed 443928
Down Speed 18940569
SNR Margin 2
Loop Att. 12
Any help greatly apprecated!

your SNR margin is 2 !!! ... Not many modems will hold this small amount ...
What is the SNR value right away after a reboot or a disconnection???
First is good idea to replace your filter/splitter with another new one & see if is any difference ... and also keep any other electric/electronic device away from the 2710
The one you are using now should be for long noise lines (STD) also the 211801, 2121501,221201 ... but you can try first the modem code 2471201, 252901 and if still frequent drops try 243701(from my experience with the 243701 did not had any disconnections but my SNR was not so low as yours down to 2) ... if the problem still there, i would say to ring your customer service and ask to set the SNR by 3db more up
