Running Syslog as a service was created by sam.thompson
Hi,
I was wondering whether it was possible to run Syslog as a service, and if so, how?
As we don't have any workstations on our network that are left on 24/7, the ideal scenario is to install Syslog on one of our servers. Of course, these aren't left logged in either, so it needs to run as a service.
I've tried simply creating a new service and pointing it to the exe (sc create "Draytek Syslog" binpath= "exepath" ), but it doesn't start successfully. Do I need to use an .ini file as well, and if so, what should it contain?
Cheers.

What you are probably looking for is a windows service wrapper.
A normal exe cannot be run as a service, the wrapper is a a service enabled exe that can be configured to run whichever exe you want.
A quick google search gave this result

but I cannot vouch for how good it is.
