Single port on Draytek supporting two subnets? was created by protech
Hi,
I have a single unmanaged switch supporting two networks:
192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.10.0/24.
I also have a Draytek 2860.
I need to achive the following if posssible:
Run a single cable from the switch to one LAN socket on the 2860.
As the traffic coming down this cable will be from two different
subnets, is it possible to configure a single socket on the 2860
to support both subnets?
In other words, on the 2860 can you setup ONE LAN socket to support
two different IP subnets?
There are infrastructure reasons why I need to do it this way and
the 2860 is due to replace a cheap ZyXel router which does support
this configuration, but I can't as yet find a way of doing it on the
2860?
Effectivley I need one port on the router to act as the gateway for
both subnets?
Is it possible and if so how?
Cheers

Yes, with VLAN tagging.
You'll either need to 'untag' the traffic in the switch, or use equipment that support tagged traffic.
