How do I connect an AP800 to a BT Home Hub using WiFi only? was created by brandnewbag
Hi guys
I'm staying at my daughter's house and I want to connect my new AP800 to her existing BT Home Hub .
In the past it's just been a simple matter of connecting an ethernet cable between a Vigor 2850 and the AP800 running in AP mode .
However, it seems that using cabling in their house may be problematic, so I want to find out how I configure the devices to just use wifi.
I guess that there's a good chance someone here has crossed that bridge before!
I thought that using the Universal Repeater mode might be the way, but I could not seem to get it configured correctly. Maybe I am using the wrong method?
Can someone give me the 'how to do it' please?
Anne

does the home hub even support WDS or repeater.
I know the virgin media ones don't.

Hi Sicon,
Yes it supports WPS. WPS is something I've ignored, because (as I understand it) there is slightly lower security..
May I ask why you ask that... does WPS make it easier to link them up?

WPS is wireless protected setup and different to WDS Wireless Distribution System
You need WDS
