Allow ping from specific WAN IP's was created by ekatz135
Hi all,
I would like to monitor a number of my client's internet connection.
I have written a batch script that will ping their WAN IP address and send me an email if online/offline and then email me thereafter only if there is a status change.
Is there a way to allow ping only from my WAN IP address?
If not, is there an alternative way of checking for online status from command prompt?
Thanks in advance,
Leo

VigorACS springs to mind as a way to do the monitoring you're interested in.
I don't think there is a way to allow ping from only a specific IP. With the HTTP / HTTPS Web interface you can using the management ACL list. I guess you could write a routine that does a HTTP get ? Or perhaps look at utilities/programmes that are designed for checking if a website is online.

As above you cant do it.
Ping form internet is controlled from the Management section and the firewall doesn't seem to override and of the options block or allow

Thanks for your responses.
With regards to VigorACS, am I correct to assume that this is a subscription based service?

Yes or you can host your own server and just buy the licences for the nodes which is what we do
