2860n Ping Failover was created by davidpitt
Hi,

Does the Draytek 2860n has the ability to do failover based on a ping test? The only options I can see are that failover will work only if the WAN connection state is disconnected.

Our setup is ADSL on WAN1 and a wireless satellite link on WAN2. The problem arises when the satellite link stops working but the connection status is still active and because the router still thinks the WAN2 is connected it doesn’t failover to WAN1. So I need to be able to setup a ping test so that if the ping fails it knows to failover to WAN1 instead.

Is this possible with a Draytek 2860n or do I need to pick a higher model, say a 2925, etc ?

Thanks

WAN2 has ARP, Ping and Always On as its connection Detections modes so you can choose ping and set the TTL

Thanks for replying. I don't know how I've missed those options before but I've just found them!

Thank you
