I have recently purchased a Vigor 2925n+ router with the intention of connecting it to a Tooway modem, but unfortunately I have been having issues getting the router to work with the automatic DHCP settings of the modem.

I am unsure which option would work in my case, would using the DHCP setting and providing the MAC address of the modem be enough to get it running?

It should work with just DHCP and not need MAC cloning. Try setting different WAN port speeds from WAN - General Setup - WAN2?
