Adding an AP810 to a 2830n was created by rob louth
Hi,
I am adding an AP810 to a 2830. The AP will have a wired connection to an un-managed switch. Can anyone advise on the best mode to use as I am getting conflicting advise. Is it also possible to use the same credentials as the router? Thanks, Rob.

Sorry Rob, can you be a bit more specific? The 810 only has 2.4gHz so as far as modes go you don't have much choice there! and which credentials are you referring to?

Hi,Thanks, I'm wondering if I can give the same SSID and password to both the router and AP? Also is it universal repeater mode I should be using.

Yes you can use the same SSID if you want. As far as repeater mode goes, it depends what you want the 810 to do. As you are connecting it via a LAN cable my preference would be to set it in AP mode.

Thanks, All I am trying to achieve is better wi-fi coverage. Im installing Control4 home automation and need good coverage. I thought that giving both devices the same SSID would be the best option but I am quite new to this.

Now that I have switched to AP mode, I cannot see it as a connected device on the router? Also in either mode the wireless range doesnt seem to extend. What is the best way to confirm operation? Thanks for your help.
