LAN DNS - redirect whole domain? was created by iwrconsultancy
Vigor 2830 - I want to use the Applications > LAN DNS feature to redirect all requests for a given domain, and for any subdomains of it, to a local IP. I know it is possible to do this for a single subdomain, but not for all. Is there any workaround that will trap all subdomain queries?

Purpose is to block access to tracking/profiling sites like doubleclick, brightcove etc. The issue is that these sites use a varying list of subdomains such as ad.doubleclick.net, ad2.doubleclick.net etc. Thus, since you cannot predict what subdomain will be used, you need to block everything under that master domain. It is quite easy to do this with bind or dnsmasq on a linux server, but if possible I want to make this a router-only solution.

Not with the 2830 sadly, the DNS filter / LAN DNS on there is more basic than on the 2860 and it appears to have missed out on the wilcard functionality, so *.doubleclick.net will work on a 2860 (or 2830v2) but not a 2830 v1
