Draytek 2820 WAN2 packet loss as WAN1 (DSL) reboots

Hi

I'm getting problems with packet loss every couple of minutes which seems to coincide with WAN1 DSL rebooting.
I've recently switched from Virgin to a BT based internet. The only configuration difference between them for the 2820 is that the BT based one requires PPPoE where as the virgin one took care of any encryption. The BT based one requires an openreach modem as the 2820 doesn't have VDSL.

I didn't have these problems when I was with virgin but this does seem to be a problem with the router not the internet connection (balance of probability).

Despite disabling WAN1 I notice the DSL light is still flashing and the syslog shows continual DSL rebooting coming from WAN 1.

Is there a way to completely disable WAN1 so that it doesn't keep rebooting?

You said you went from Virgin to BT... did you mean the other way around?
i.e. you were on ADSL and now are on cable (using WAN2) ?

How did you disable WAN1 in Internet access or WAN port config ?

( I don't think you can disable the modem altogether but shouldn't need to).

I've tried to disable it on both General Setup and Internet Access.

No. Virgin first now BT (Utility Warehouse actually, but same hardware up to the exchange) The 2820 does not have VDSL required to hook direct into a BT socket so I'm going via a BT openreach modem. #

So to elaborate on the story:
  • Had Virgin - Hooked into WAN2, WAN 1 was disabled (at least as far as general setup / internet setup)
  • Had a BT line installed (ADSL at first) so enabled WAN1 with appropriate PPPoA settings and unplugged WAN2.
  • BT enabled Fiber so I unplugged WAN1 and disabled on the two pages and plugged in the Openreach modem to WAN2 and set up appropriate PPPoE for WAN2.

So baring the short time I was on ADSL (2 weeks) I've always had WAN1 disconnected and disabled, but never noticed these issues before.

Somewhere I'd thought it was possible to shut-down the DSL (at least stop the DSL light flashing) if it was not in use.
