Vigor2710n as an AP only was created by garydrew
I have a long-serving Vigor2600 on a basic ADSL line (not ADSL2). Previously I have connected a separate WAP (a ZyXEL WAP3205) via a cable to provide wireless functionality. The ZyXEL WAP has now failed (actually this is the 3rd ZyXEL unit to fail) so I have now bought a used Vigor2710n wireless router.

My intention was to completely replace the Vigor2600 with the 2710n but then it occurred to me that perhaps I could use the 2710n solely as a WAP connected to my 2600 via a cable. Is this possible, i.e. using the 2710n as an access point only?

(it may sound a redundant set up having the 2710n with the 2600 but my 2600 configuration is just how I want it - with port redirection, etc. - and I would prefer not to have to go through a new lengthy reconfiguration of the 2710n)
