Hi

I have two switches connected directly to ports 3 and 4 of a Draytek 2830.

Each switch has VLAN 10 and VLAN11 and all is working fine in terms of devices receiving correct IP addresses etc.

However, devices on VLAN 10 and 11 on switch 1 can't communicate between devices on VLAN 10 and 11 on switch 2.

I realise that this is probablty some limitation of the switch that is integrated within the Draytek 2830.

Is there any way to enable the 2830 for intra VLAN communication accross different LAN ports?

I can't see anything obvious on the Web GUI.

I can get everything working the way that I want by trunking switch 2 to switch 1 with switch 1 connected to the 2830 LAN port, but I would rather avoid this.

The vlan tag might be getting dropped by switch 1 when it leaves switch 1 to go to the DrayTek and then onto switch 2 and vice versa. Dropping the vlan tag is needed for a non-vlan aware device to plug into a port but prevents what you're looking for from working.

*** Be really careful with making any changes to vlan tags as it's very easy to vlan yourself out switches and routers ***

Have you enabled vlan tags on the 2830 ? Maybe LAN2 as vlan 10 and LAN3 as vlan 11. leaving LAN1 without a vlan tag enabled and then putting port 3 and 4 in both LAN2 and LAN3. Then on the switches check to see if they're dropping the vlan tags.
