Hello,
I'm having some weird problems and wonder if it is possible to change the MAC address for LAN2.
I have a single Ethernet broadcast domain and want to run 2 separate IP networks. One is 192.168.a.b and the other is 81.x.y.z, with the 81 addresses being accessable form the Internet and from the LAN. (I understand and accept the security risks of this).
The weirdness is that when I configure the 192.168 address on my router all is fine, but when I add the 81 addresses my windows PC's (on the 192 network) stop responding to the 192 address. The Linux machines carry on regardless (as they should).
So to check it is the OS, I put 2 completely clean builds (ie not a VM clone) on the same physical server, same nic, and the Linux responds to 192 addresses but the Windows doesn't and that's with no AV, windows firewall swtiched off etc. So, for me, Windows is borking when it sees 2 IP addresses with the same MAC, or gets the 81. MAC response first, so ignores the 192.
Which takes me to wanting the change the MAC on LAN2.
Is this possible?
(I am planning on using WAN2 for a 2nd Internet connection, so can't use this.)
Thanks.
IB.
