Blocking Torrent Traffic Vigor 2830 was created by sharon

Hiya~, I've got a bit of a pickle and I hope someone can help. I need help blocking BitTorrent traffic on the Vigor 2830, I've checked 'BitTorrent' under the CSM App Profile but it doesn't seem to block any torrent traffic at all. Is there something else I need to do?

You need to create a data policy in the firewall and apply the APP filter rule

Hi Sicon,
I did that, but I'm confused how to set this up on the filter rule. Some people are saying I need to block ports 1024 to 65535 but that is just blocking all the ports and when I do that my pdq machine stops working.
I want to just use the app enforcement to block the torrents that way.

I'm not sure what I should set the filter to on the filter rule. It says 'pass immediately, block immediately, pass if no further match or block if no further match? I then set the App enforcement to my block torrent rule but still it allows my laptop to download torrents, so it's not working.

Also on the app enforcement profile it shows protocols but there is a drop down for block / pass. This kind of contradicts the filter! If I want to block say for example SMTP, what do I set it to?

Are there are clear instruction for blocking torrents anywhere?

Thanks,
Sha

I assume by the lack of response this can't be done?

Thanks!

It should be set up like this using the app filter and applied using the firewall:

That's all that needs to be ticked in the App Enforcement

In the Firewall - Default Rule, select the app enforcement profile:

The pass/block setting should be ignored because the App Enforcement when selected is basically a block option. The Pass/Block at the top is for all IP traffic, you don't want to block that.

If the filtering still doesn't work, try updating the firmware, Draytek did improve the app enforcement filtering with newer firmware.
