Opening Ports on vigor 3900 was created by quantiq
Hello,

We have a Vigor 3900 Router and we are having difficulty trying to figure out how to open specific ports.

I see I can open a port linked to a specific IP address but what if I want the port open for all machines?

Thanks

Nick

In general it depends!

If you're all IPv4 and on private addresses (10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x, etc.) with NAT then you can't do that because, since private addresses are non route-able across the public net, the data has no idea where to go. You can, sort of, get round this by using "range to range" but it is always a compromise.

If you've got some public IPv4 addresses assigned to machines then you would have to use firewall rules for that.

Similarly, if you are talking about IPv6 (unlikely but I may as well add it) then, again, you would have to use firewall rules.

You could also use different ports for each local machine but actually, the OP's explanation of what he's trying to do isn't very detailed so I'm not sure we've fully understood what/why.
