Vigot 2860n snr issue. was created by florenceanne
I have been trying to sort out a SNR issue for years it has been set at around 5dB both up and down, I have a very stable connection but noticed the SNR on upstream had jumped to 14dB. I have tried everything to find the source of the increase, even placing reouter intoe engineers test socke new filter new cable nothing else connected no change. A friend suggested checking the information by telnet into router which I have now completed. I have been trying to find the problem on wrong stream in telnet the 14dB is on the far SNR which I beleive is the downstream not up. I have copy and paste of both seems the firmware on my dratek swaps the up and downstream SNR around. Any help to solve this please.

Apologies for slight thread hijack but can anyone explain to me why in the world of xdsl lines a high signal to noise ratio is considered a bad thing? In every other endeavour in which I've been involved we have always striven for a high SNR :?

Wrt your question, have you ever had more than 20Mb upstream? (I would kill for those high figures). If not, why is it a problem?

Is the firmware pre-vector or the non-vector version? I had similar when the cabinets were upgraded to G.INP and suddenly lost about 12Mbit speed on downstream. That was just before the vector support came into the firmware. Then recently I had other troubles with BT/VT3 and had to go to VT1.

The long and the short is: sometimes openreach do upgrades on the cabinets that are not as transparent as they should be.

Thank you for the replys pre vector just found out I have to change firmware to the new BT one lets pray it works better than BT :D.

As for speed yes lost around 18Mbps on the vectoring, can see my weekend plans are changed as this needs to be done and resetting all the IPs after hate the messing..
