A second IP range for Vigor 2850? was created by theia
Hi guys,

STRUCTURE
We are using a Vigor 2850vn as the core of a 192.168.1.x network, which uses a couple of Netgear GS716Tv2 switches, Wifi access points, and which has been running ok for at least 5 years.

PLANS
We now wish to 'bring online' a second area, and presumably it will use the same Vigor 2850vn router and - intially - an internet connection just using the same ADSL broadband to the 2850.

However, we can see at least five important issues:

(1) This second area should not be able to access the first area, and so should ensure both areas have Wifi access to just their own area.
(2) They both should automatically share the router available Internet bandwidth
(3) The main problem - that both areas need to access a rather old photocopier
(4) Lack of knowledgable support personnel, and the resulting desire to keep the solution simple so likely problems can be resolved easily.

QUESTION
So, in principle, what is the best solution? Simply use a 192.168.0.x & 192.168.1.x. range somehow? start implementing VLAN, or is there a third and simpler way?

Thanks for any advice to help the planning & decisions!

Lets assume all of site A's equipment is connected to LAN1 on your vigor
and all of site B's equipment (bar the printer) is connected to LAN2 on vigor
connect the printer to LAN3

Configure LAN1 for vlan0 (DHCP: 192.168.1.x)
LAN2 for vlan1 (DHCP: 192.168.2.x)
LAN3 for vlan0 & vlan1

Both networks can connect to the internet and access the printer/photocopier, but not be able to access each other
