BT Infinity fixed IP address on 2860 was created by jameswright
Hi,

Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to assign our BT assigned static IP addresses to my router?

Broadband is working fine, but I can't seem to get our static IP's working. Tried to do this ages ago and couldn't get it working.

We have 5, but really I just need any traffic coming out of our router to go through 1 IP address.

If this isn't possible I don't mind assigning them to individual machines on the network, but would prefer not to.

This is what BT have given us:

Base IP : 217.34.65.120
User : starter 217.34.65.121 end 125
Gateway : 217.34.65.126
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.248

We are logging in with our BT assigned username and password.

Any ideas?

I'm not clear what you're trying to do here. You say you don't want to assign WAN IPs to devices on your network so why are you bothering with them?

What does your dashboard say your IP address is? I'd guess from the info you post that it's XXX.XX.65.126, but I'm not familiar with how BT do things. (Not a great idea to publish your IP addresses on t'web by the way, I'd asterisk them out)

So anything going out from your router will go out from that address, which seems to be what you want?
