Draytek 2860 VLAN was created by steveyg_uk
Hi,

I'll try and keep this to the point.

GOAL :- 2 VLAN (default and business). Business to have Server & PC (dual nic - one nic to home and one nic to business)

WHat I have tried;-

Use of TP-LINK Smart Switch selecting ports 9 - Server, 6 - PC and 14 Router as VLAN 6.
2860 router - VLAN enabled. Port 6 which goes to Switch port 14.
Doesn't work still can't ping the server.

Therefore tried disconnecting from switch and enabling ports 4,5 & 6 on 2860 as VLAN6.
Doesn't work - still can't ping the server.

I can configure this type of network config and much larger on HP networks with PALO ALTO firewalls, just can't get this working with Draytek 2860 and TP-LINK Smart Switch (TL-SG1024DE).

Could someone help if possible today please?

if ports 4, 5 & 6 are set as vlan2 (or what ever you chose), and you have then connected to:
server: business_nic
pc: business_nic

what is the remaining port on the 2860 connected to? the smart switch?

What can't ping the server? If you mean the client won't ping through the TP-Link switch then I'd suggest a local firewall issue to start with, as the issue is therefore before the 2860 is involved.

Sorry I'll make this clearer...

2 setups I have tried. 4 and 5 only connected directly to esxi server and 2nd nic on pc. Server at present is just esxi no firewall.

2nd setup only port 6 going to switch then server and pc connected to switch still cannot ping esxi server.

Esxi server will be ping when no vlan present, and using an isolated switch directly to pc.

Not quite sure how to read that?

Esxi server will be ping when no clan separate switch directly to pc.

and you say this config doesn't allow server and client to ping? (your 2nd config)
Code:
vigor (pt6) <---> switch <---> server <---> client

Is the smart switch configured, or being used in un-managed mode?

Apologies - was typing from my phone....

should read - Esxi server will ping when no vlan present, and using an isolated switch directly to pc.

vigor (pt6) <---> switch <---> server
                          <--->

Correct - when using VLAN6.

Networks 192.168.0.1/24 (default)
&
10.126.0.1/24 (VLAN6)
