I see there is finally an AC variant of an LTE model with the 2862Lac. But I can't find anyone that stocks it. Is that version available yet in the UK?

After logging a ticket I was told the Draytek UK marketing team decided not to release the Lac model here, just the Ln. This is an example of why marketing people shouldn't make product decisions. Why would they think a single band N model is better than a simultaneous dual band ac model for the LTE option?


Given it's available in the US, would the US version support UK LTE bands? and also would it accept the UK firmware? ie the one with BT VDSL firmware?

The bands would be different, the WiFi channels are different, transmission power is different.

FCC regs require that routers radio locality be locked so you can't alter the firmware to change the channel/power settings so you would likely end up with a illuminated paperweight.

That's completely wrong. It may be that what you consider 'marketing people' is different to what DrayTek mean.... but who you do you think should decide if a product gets launched? Engineers who have no ideal about accounting/economics ?

It's not available ANYWHERE yet so if it goes into production and they decide to launch it in the UK, it will be a commercial decision, which may not suit you, but unless you want to buy 500000 of them, they have to consider others In many cases, the Vigor2860L series is mission critical so locked away securely in an office/cupboard etc, so for WiFi, users generally use a separate access point not a built-in one so that coverage is optimised.

If you buy a US one, it'll be different LTE bands, wrong power supply, no local warranty, no UK support, wrong WiFi bands, no MCT/BT approval...and it doesn't exist
