vigor 2860 rate attainable was created by aimdev
Hi
using a combination of snmp + tiks + grafana I am getting graphs of my adsl line performance, and this has raised a couple of points
Firstly looking at the rate attainable , this is around 15.5 mbs, however a speed test shows download of about 10-12 mbs.
A few weeks ago the speed test showed 14mbs, but the rate attainable was about the same.
Secondly the s/n has increase from 5 to 6, occasionally 7, but the attenuation is pretty constant at 29db.
My question is based on the observations, why is the speed test, carried out against the same server, showing a decreasing rate?

Thanks

Yes definitely slowed down this week, kids off school , last minute shopping.
If it is weather related hopefully it will go up next year as spring approaches.
The phone line is clear of noise, ie no crackles etc, but OR have been around down various holes in in the green box's, however
if they had done something I would have expected the attenuation to change, but it consistent.
I had assumed rate attainable == download rate, not sure how the vigor measures this, and all the 2860 readings are marginally different to the sr102's
but the speed test is about the same.
I have only had the graphing running for a month or so, early days.

Download rate and Actual rate can vary considerably , especially on copper lines.

When I check my line I have found nPerf to be very reliable. https://www.nperf.com/en/

Hi

just tried, cool.
The figures are about the same, so its good to get a confirmation between speed test servers.
I might add a speed test facility to my graphing application.

Thanks :D
