2862AC can't connect to Virgin Media was created by mbaker171
Running 3.8.8_BT. I'm trying to connect to virgin media Broadband. Works fine with my old router but not this one.

WAN 2
Enable yes
Physical mode Ethernet
Auto neg
Always on

WAN 2 static or Dynamic IP
WAN Always on
Obtain in ip address automatically.

It kinda looks like its connected but hasn't and after a minute or 2 disconnects completely.

Any suggestions?

Trying to register product... too hard. Given up.

You could try cloning the (WAN) MAC address of your old router and see if that makes it spring into life....

Sometimes, it seems possible to tie Virgin Media's system in a knot when changing devices, as it goes through the various stages of DHCP lease/renewal. (I'm assuming your V.M. hub is in the same state (i.e. modem-mode), as it was with the previous Router?)

Good idea. Yes VM hub is in modem mode. I tried what I thought was the old router mac without success so I configured it using my PC address and that worked!

Thanks for your help. Issue sorted.

Things are not going well since I've started using this 2862AC. It's hard to put my finger on what exactly is the problem because it keeps changing:

Observations:
Sometime the mac address I am using works ok with VM but then it doesn't.
There definitely seems to be a problem with UPNP. I'll do some more research. For now I've stopped using it because it's breaking my home automation system that uses UPNP a lot.(VeraEdge devices)

The router WILL NOT connect to VM anymore... spent so much time on this: Tried multiple MACaddresses. I've been in network for over 30 years. I've tried everything I can think..
1:Multiple mac addresses including the Tp-Link mac address its supposed to be replacing: which did work for a while(as did my own PC mac address)
2: on changes power off router and VM modem plus disconnect power cord
3:stripped off everything except laptop and VM modem plugged in(Nothing else)
4:prayed begged and swore at it

Can't think of anything else:

Can anyone else:

Has anyone got this working reliably with Virgin Media cable?

Help...not a good day

I've sent the router back and ordered a replacement!
