2860LAC & AP-902 Lan B issue. was created by sheltons
Getting some strange results with the following:

2862LAC (Firmware 3.8.8.2_BT)
  • [*]Port 5 - Set to LAN

  • [*]VLAN 3 - LAN4 (Include P5/ SSID2 2.4G/ SSID2 5G)

  • [*]LAN4 IP 192.168.4.5/ DHCP Enabled

    AP-902 (Firmware 1.2.3.1)
  • [*]LAN-B Setup as 'Enable DHCP Client' (when you try to save it will not allow disabled IP/Subnet fields to be blank!)

  • [*]DHCP - Relay to 192.168.4.5

  • What's happening is, If the AP902 has an address of 192.168.2.2 in the IP field when you select 'DHCP Client Enabled' then this address is set and not an address from the DHCP on LAN4. It also appears to blow out LAN4 as if there are 2 DHCP's in conflict - The WiFi connections no longer get allocated and IP so no Internet.

Also, there is not an IP for the AP902 listed in the 2862's DHCP Table in Diagnostics.

I don't have Port 1-4 free to try them but either there is a problem with Port 5 on the 2862 or there is a bug with LAN-B.

    Follow Up.

    Changed P5 back to WAN.
Word of Warning: Changing P5 between WAN & LAN Disables VLAN Entirely!!!!

DHCP Client does not work on LAN B Setting, it will not pick up and IP from the DHCP Server, it seems to be stuck in Manual Config Mode.

I plugged the AP-902 in P3 by accident and it still reported and IP of 192.168.4.7 which is whats in the Greyed out IP field when DHCP Client is Enabled.

    John.

    Update.

Set Port 5 back to WAN.
    Renabled VLAN.

I then added a small switch to the 2860 to free up a Port I could use for LAN-B on the AP.

After Rebooting both units - all seems to be OK.

Looks like there is a bug with P5 being used as LAN with DHCP/ DHCP Relay.
