I am replacing my Vigor 2830 with another modem (sorry !)
I have had the Vigor for many years and it happily connects to my ISP using my user name, (which I can see)
and my password (which I cannot see.). I do not know my password. Is there any way to view the hidden password
which the router obviously 'know' but which I do not

Yes - if internet explorer has remembered it, then yes you can retrieve it.

Open up credential manager and navigate to the url of your router - find the part and click "view".

But the password is used by the router to connect to my ISP.
It is not a password that I would ever need in IE, Chrome etc

My router remembers the password but I cannot see it to input into the new router

Can't you just ask your ISP to reset your password?
