EE Fibre Broadband was created by cornz
Hi folks.
Anyone managed to configure a 2860vn to work with EE fibre home broadband?
I've tried several guides on the net but have had no success.

Under "physical connection, I can see this:
(VDSL2 Firmware Version: 579F17_A/B/C with Vectoring support )
17A SHOWTIME 7,010 (Kbps) 32,541 (Kbps) 5 (dB) 6 (dB)

So I have flashed the firmware from the draytek site that corresponds to that VDSL2 firmware:

From the PDF release notes.
Vigor2860_v3.8.9.3-04v_en.zip" is used for modem code 579c17_573f01 &
579f17_573f01

The router appears to have synced up but it just wont let me connect. User name and password checked and confirmed.
I cant seem to find upto date details for this.
The EE website is very sparse on specifics, to wit:
"
protocol: PPPoE (over Ethernet)
broadband username: format similar to yourname.orangehome.co.uk@fs or PRODUCTIONHQNUN123456@fs
broadband password: you'll need the login details or the password that came with your EE router
authentication: CHAP
internet IP address: e.g. Dynamic, Auto or Obtain from ISP (we'll assign you an IP address when you connect)
DNS IP address: e.g. Dynamic, Auto or Obtain from ISP (we'll automatically provide these when you connect)
MTU: 1492
MAC address: (leave blank/disabled)

NONE of which (I believe) is pertinent to a VDSL line.
So find this, again on the EE site.
IP address
your IP address is allocated dynamically via DHCP. We're unable to offer a static IP address
Encapsulation
PPP over ATM for standard broadband
PPP over Ethernet for fibre broadband
Multiplexing method
VC-Based
Virtual circuit
VPI=0
VCI=38
Modulation
Multi mode
Authentication
CHAP
MTU (maximum transmission unit)
in case of problems with a third-party router, change MTU to 1492

Again, no connection.
So, stuck in a loop.
Anyone have any more info?
Thanks.

Hello cornz,

A couple of things might help. First in General set up for WAN1 make sure you have VLAN tagging enabled in the customer column for VDSL2. Tag value is usually 101 with Priority 0

In the WAN Internet Access Details page I have

Username
Password
PPP Authentication PAP/CHAP
Fixed IP NO
Default MAC Address
and make sure both the PPPoE Pass-through boxes are unchecked.

These settings work for most Fibre connections (I'm not on EE by the way).

John.

UPDATE.
After extracting the user name from the ee router, I have established that the information given to me over the phone (verbally requested user/pass) is not the same as what's in the router.
Unfortunately I cannot view the router password.
So I now suspect the issue lies there.
I have used the wizard and set the tag at 101 as per many posts.
Any way to extract the router password or is there an "unhider" program which exposes starred out passwords.

Thanks John. I will have to call them in the morning and ask for my details again. They missed the "@fs" off the end of my user name, its all in caps. I understand the password follows some pattern related to the username but I could spend hours (already have done) essentially guessing passwords and / or settings.
