Vigor 130 & Bt Infinity PPPoE was created by d58duncan
Hi folks,

My first post so please be gentle.

I have the vigor 130 connected to bt infinity via a linksys wrt3200 router. To get the Internet connection to work, I had to enter the bt username and password in the pppoe section of my router.

I'm now wanting to flash my router with third party vpn software and they have advised that in order for the Internet to work, the modem needs to be able to handle the pppoe settings (username and password) directly.

Now, I don't know a lot about pppoe settings etc but from looking at the 130 interface, there is nowhere to enter username and password. Does this mean i can't access bt Internet without having these setting in the router?

Any and all help greatly appreciated!

'Fraid so - the UK 130 is like the old Openreach modem in that respect.

Thanks for the response. Is there a different model/modem that would allow me to do this?

It seems strange that replacement router firmware wouldn't support PPPoE... it's a very widely used protocol - and dominant outside of the UK.

Still, I don't know why you're using the VPN, but maybe replacing everything with one router might work too.
