2862n BT connection dropping was created by andylarks
Hi

My 2862n seems to periodically (frequently) drop WiFi connections. Over the weekend I replaced WiFi functionality on the router with an AP10 (wireless access point), which displayed exactly the same behaviour - which suggests that actually the issue is not WiFi, but rather the BT Connection.

Annoyingly I don't know how to prove or debug this, so any help or pointers would be really appreciated - it's driving me crazy!

ADSL Config:
Channel 1
VPI 0
VCI 38
Encaps VC MUX
PPoE
Modulation - multimode
MTU 1442

I've disabled Hardware Acceleration

I have a single SSID, running mixed on channel 9 (least congested)
I'm running a special version of the firmware thanks to DrayTek support, who said this would fix it! Current Firmware Version: 3.8.9.2_MDM2

Hope someone can help!

A.

SYSLOG is your friend :)

When enabled, WLAN events end up in the "User Access" tab of Draytek's SYSLOG client. WAN events might be in the WAN tab, or the Connection tab - I'm not sure.

The Draytek SYSLOG client is available here: https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/downloads/software/send/336-software/1357-syslog-456-win

You might find the same information in the "Web SYSLOG" ... but I find that much harder work.

OK @hornybyp will try that.

In the mean time (sorry, only just seen your post) I tried pinging BBC - here's an example of the output:

...which is pretty indicative of my experience/issue - the RTT being that volatile is ridiculous!

Update

Little (obvious) debug in syslog. The only notable thing that I can see is frequent entries like this:
WLAN_DBG - WPA handshake start for MAC ADDRESS HERE

...there's a string of these finishing with WLAND_DBG - WPA handshake finish

other than that, most of the log messages are for DNS queries. I feel like the Vigor should be caching DNS answers, but it doesn't appear to be doing so. For example, 4 queries in a row for googlemail

Still hoping someone has some further wisdom.....

If you run a ping from a wireless device to the Draytek does that show any corresponding loss at the same time?

If it's the wireless itself both should drop at the same time.

Also if you run a ping from the Draytek itself does that show any drops?
