Hi, I need block http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer on all PCs in an office, whilst allowing access to regular bbc page through.
I can stop stuff like http://www.netflix.com but I cannot see anyway of blocking just the /iplayer area.
Have anyone successfully managed this? I'm pulling my hair out now

Might have to do it by protocol/type as I think a TLS session will whitelist any suffixes once it has resolved the primary URL and from the router's POV, it's all the same IP address.

You can also inform staff that it's banned and a disciplinary matter to break the rule - can often be more effective and something that companies often don't seem to do - instead assuming that implicit rules by technology is sufficient.

Presumably you'll block RT, ChinaNews and AlJazera too, for balance

Try blocking the domains that iplayer connects to with the router's DNS Filter, which will allow the bbc site to load but be unable to actually play anything.

To check that, you can run Wireshark while starting up & playing a show in iPlayer, then filter that to the "dns" traffic.

mybbc.files.bbci.co.uk
emp.bbci.co.uk
component.iplayer.api.bbc.co.uk
ibl.api.bbci.co.uk

This guide covers how to block specific DNS hostnames with the router.

The "URL Content Filter Profile" under the "CSM" top-level menu might be the way to do this.
