2862n WiFi performance awful was created by andylarks
So plugged in to the router I get ~80Mb download

Over wifi (when stood next to the router) I get a maximum of 5Mb

So frustrated, can't find what the issue is - other than perhaps a faulty router....but 2 faulty routers in a row seems unlikely?

I'm running the latest firmware.
Not a particularly busy WiFi area (not competing particularly)
No bandwidth management enabled (so far as I can tell!)

Any ideas?!

A.

OK, scratch that, figured it out.

I have 19 devices connected - and roughly 55Mb bandwidth available.

That works out at roughly 3Mb each

...although, that suggests everything is trying to consume 4Mb or more. Seems unlikely, so perhaps some "bad actors" taking up more than their fair share.

I would try using the menu option Diagnostics / Data Flow Monitor (and enable it) to establish how much bandwidth is being consumed by each device.

Do try different wireless channels to see if that helps, you should still be able to use the full bandwidth when close to the router. The bandwidth is only being shared like that if every device is communicating at the same time.

If there are lots of wireless networks nearby, you could set the channel mode to 20MHz only, which can sometimes help. That's done from the [WLAN] > [Advanced Settings] menu.
