Custom factory default settings was created by morrow_84
Hi All,

I purchased 2862n on eBay and the seller advised the router was originally supplied by ISP.

When I do a full factory reset the router defaults to logon credentials configured by ISP not admin/admin as it should be.

I do have ISP login credentials from seller so can login, but wonder if there is a way to reconfigure factory default settings so that factory default settings will be admin/admin not the ones set by ISP?

Is this info stored somewhere on the router? Maybe I can change it through cli?

The router has the latest official firmware installed.

Thanks.

You cannot wipe those settings.

Often, in those circumstances the router is actually owned by the ISP anyway, so it wasn't his to sell!

Thanks a lot, admin!

Too bad I didn't read the description saying it is from ISP before buying! Would gladly spend a little more and buy non-ISP version.

Whilst factory default password is definitely annoying but not critical, my concern is that the router might have some "factory security holes" and send data to ISP or something? I definitely don't want that :)

I know it is a separate topic, but is there a way to find out what data router sends or it might be not visible as per ISP's internal config?

The facility to pre-set defaults does not allow custom code or spying per se. That said, if there were defailt TR-069, syslog or SNMP parameters that you didn't wipe, that could send some data off...
