Hi all,

I have a Vigor 2860 router. I have configured two LANS:
- LAN1 (192.168.1/0/24) is for the wired network and is trusted.
- LAN2 (192.168.2.0/24) is for the wireless network which is less trusted.
Default firewall rule is left at the default of pass.

Ideally I would like all devices on LAN1 to be able to talk to devices on LAN2 but only select devices on LAN2 going the other way. I have enabled Interlan Routing and I can control which specific devices on LAN2 have access to LAN1 using firewall rules. So far so good.

However no matter how hard I try I cannot get devices on LAN1 to talk to anything on LAN2, regardless of firewall rules. So:
- Can this even be done?
- Or is there another setting for allowing LAN1 to talk to LAN2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tony.

The LAN2 checkbox for LAN1 is the second box down under LAN1. Are you saying you can't tick that? If so, how are your devices on LAN2 talking to LAN1 then?

I can tick the box on row lan2 column lan1 but the one at row lan1 column lan2 is greyed out, as shown on their guides etc. I was just wondering whether this implied LAN2->LAN1 works and LAN1->LAN2 doesn't.

Ouch - found the cause! :-) My bad. Nothing to do with the router or the homeplugs.

The laptop that I was using to test this only starts sshd when it's on mains (MS-Windows 10 WSL), not my idea but apparently that's default behavour, and it was running on battery, so no sshd and so I couldn't connect (I wasn't using ping as the laptop has windows defender running and traceroute's not much use here).

All working as expected.

Thanks anyway.

Glad you're sorted, but in any event the LAN1-LAN2 connection is only the one box. You can't tick any of the horizontal ones to the right of the vertical column you've chosen. It would make no sense to have LAN1-LAN2 and LAN2-LAN1 both ticked in that table, as they are the same.
